Longtime San Francisco boba shop suffers major damage after kitchen fire
The San Francisco Fire Department responded to a call at the establishment at 3620 Balboa St. According to SFFD, the fire extended to the attic from the kitchen. At least three fire trucks were dispatched to the scene.
No injuries were reported, but Purple Kow suffered “extensive” damage, the business said. Starting Monday, the restaurant will only take pickup orders and ask customers to place them online.
Purple Kow said it will not be serving snacks or drinks with boba.
Video from the scene was posted by SFFD. See in the media player above.
“We ask for your patience and understanding as we begin the process of rebuilding. In the meantime, we are staying dedicated to serving you as best we can,” Purple Kow wrote in a social media post. “Huge thanks to the SFFD for their quick response and help last night. And thank you to our community for the continued support. We’ll be back on our feet in no time.”
Purple Kow is one of the longest-running boba shops in San Francisco, first opening its Sunset location in 2011. The boba shop is known for its “D3” drink that features pudding and boba with a caramel-flavored iced milk tea.
