Guns, ammunition, some supplies available tax-free for Louisiana hunters this weekend

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled to run from Friday, Sept. 5 through Sunday, Sept. 7.

This means that hunters in Louisiana will be able to buy various items like ammunition, guns, and specific hunting supplies without having to pay state or local taxes.

The hunting supplies include “archery items, hunting apparel and certain types of knives,” according to the Louisiana Department of Revenue.

They said this exemption has to do with individual consumer purchases. Business or commercial purchases are not eligible in this case.

Some of the items that do not fall under the sales tax exemption include off-road vehicles, hunting dogs, vessels like airboats, and animal feed.
