Ferry Building-founded bakery to open new San Francisco flagship location

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A bakery founded in San Francisco’s Ferry Building 20 years ago is opening another one in the city. Miette is bringing its signature sweets and pastries to Pacific Heights this fall.

Miette is opening on Sept. 25 at 2252 Fillmore St., right across the street from the Clay Theatre, the bakery announced on its website.

It will be the business’s flagship location.

“We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new flagship shop on Fillmore Street in San Francisco,” Miette wrote. “This location will feature our full selection of cakes, handmade confections, Parisian-style macarons, exclusive imported sweets, and over 100 pick-n-mix candies. Designed in Miette’s signature palette and wallpapers, the Fillmore shop offers an unforgettable shopping experience—bright, beautiful, and filled with delight.”

Miette takes over the Fillmore Street premises previously occupied by boba tea shop “Zero&.” According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the cafe was evicted due to thousands of dollars in unpaid rent.

There are currently five Miette locations open in San Ramon, Larkspur, Oakland, Hayes Valley (SF) and the Ferry Building. Miette was founded by Meg Ray in 2001 and started off as a pop-up shop.

Miette’s first brick-and-mortar opened at the Ferry Building in 2005. It has since gained a combined following of more than 20,000 followers on Instagram and Facebook.
