Baton Rouge man convicted in federal drug case

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge man has been convicted in a federal case involving cocaine and crack cocaine distribution.

After a three-day trial before U.S. District Court Judge John W. deGravelles, a jury found Alexander Brock, 59, guilty of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine. The jury reached its verdict in less than an hour.

Jurors determined the conspiracy involved more than 500 grams of cocaine and more than 28 grams of crack cocaine.

Prosecutors said Brock acted as a middleman in drug deals across East Baton Rouge and Iberville Parishes between 2018 and 2019. He also converted cocaine into crack cocaine and sold it to his own customers.

Brock now faces five to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $5 million, and supervised release.

The FBI and the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica Jarreau and Benjamin Anderson.
