Auditions are open for American Idol

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— The hit ABC show, “American Idol” is now in its 24th season, and producers are looking for the next Idol.

WGNO’s Kenny Lopez explains how it could be you!

“American Idol” producers like Melissa Elfar are searching for the next superstar.

“First and foremost you must bring your talent. Just be yourself. That’s what America connects with, being your authentic self. It is not about a story, it is about being genuine and showing up as who you are. That’s what the producers connect, that’s what the judges connect with and ultimately what America connects with,” Senior Producer Melissa Elfar said.

Elfar has worked as a producer for “American Idol” for ten seasons.

Earlier this year, Louisiana Native John Foster was the first-runner up on Season 23 of the popular singing competition show.

“Louisiana is a special place. We all know this. John Foster is so proud to be from Louisiana, and he is quite the talent, so why not follow in John’s footsteps,” she said.

Auditions are now open for “Idol Across America.”

“The process is super easy. We have live, virtual auditions. To sign up, log on to the American Idol website, pick the date that works for you,” she said.

“Once you register then we will send you a Zoom link and then you’ll talk to a producer, and we’ll say hi, meet you, get to know you a little bit, sing a song or two, and then that’s it,” Elfar said.

Virtual auditions run now through early October, and you must be between the ages of 15-28 years old to audition.

Celebrity judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will be returning to judge for Season 24 which airs on WGNO.
