ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — A student at Utah Tech University passed away after falling from a balcony at Utah Tech University Sunday evening, according to the fire department.
St. George Fire Chief Robert Stoker stated that the fire department responded to a report of a fall alongside Gold Cross Ambulance. Crews were told that the patient had fallen from a balcony and transported him to the hospital. Chief Stoker says they were told he later passed away due to the injuries sustained during the fall.
Jyl Hall, Utah Tech University’s Director of Public Relations, stated that the university is “devastated” by the loss of the student, and that his presence “will be deeply missed.” She also shared resources for students, faculty, and staff who are being impacted by the tragedy.

In an email only to students, Utah Tech University identified the student who passed away and shared that he was a freshman majoring in art. ABC4 is not identifying the student publicly at this time.
Chief Stoker stated that the incident is currently being investigated by the Utah Tech University Police Department.
