Jimmie Mouton Jr., 24, of Zachary, was charged with institutional vandalism after graffiti was found on two churches in the area.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said Mouton is accused of writing phrases on Greenwell Springs Baptist Church and Indian Mound Baptist Church after midnight. Pastors of both churches gave investigators surveillance footage to use in their investigation.
According to an affidavit, words painted in black spray paint on the Greenwell Springs Baptist Church read: “SON OF GOD” and “GREEDY PEDOS!” The damage is estimated to be at least $500.
At Indian Mound Baptist Church, the front had these two phrases: “The son of God B****” and “Greedy Lying Pedophiles.” The damage at this church is estimated to be over $500.
According to arrest documents, Mouton accused the churches of robbing people he knew and church members of sexual assault when he gave a reason for the vandalism. He reportedly admitted to vandalizing three to four religious buildings.
