JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are working to solve a shooting that left two people dead and two injured late Saturday night.

The shooting occurred in the 5600 block of Dogwood Trial around 11:00 p.m. on August 30, 2025.

Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said officers discovered Roosevelt Denson, Jr., 48, deceased at the scene. He suffered at least one gunshot wound.

The three other victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Brown said one of the three injured victims, Zacchaeus Daniel Johnson, 26, died around 4:30 a.m. on August 31, 2025.

Neighbors said they’re concerned about violence in their community.

“How many more are we going to have? And, you know, I can move to the next community, but I don’t know if I might have problems there either. And we don’t always know what’s going on in a family’s household, whether their finances or whether there’s just overwhelming disputes with each other domestically. But there’s something going on that we have to resort to killing each other,” said Rosalyn Sylvester, president of the Willowood Neighborhood Community.

The two other victims are still recovering. There is no suspect or motive at this time.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact JPD at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
