(KRON) — Five people were hospitalized and a home was damaged by a two-car crash in Newark on Sunday, according to the Newark Police Department.

An SUV and a sedan crashed at the intersection of Cedar Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue around 10:35 p.m. Following the initial crash, the sedan hit a nearby home on the 5000 block of Lafayette Avenue.

The driver of the sedan and two passengers in the SUV suffered serious injuries. The driver of the SUV and a person inside the damaged home were also injured.

“All injured parties were transported to local hospitals for treatment,” Newark PD said.

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, Newark PD said. The crash remains under investigation.

“The Newark Police Department would like to thank the community members who quickly reported the collision and assisted first responders, helping ensure timely aid to those involved,” Newark PD said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Newark PD.
