ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) is working to keep people safe this Labor Day by educating them about the dangers of overconsumption.

The ILCC said the key to staying safe is knowing your limits, drinking responsibly, and using a designated driver or ride-share service if you choose to drink. They also suggest making a plan ahead of time about how you’ll get home before beginning your night out.

And, the ILCC stressed the importance of knowing the signs of alcohol poisoning. Symptoms can include irregular heart rates, seizures, loss of consciousness and more.

“As you celebrate, remember to stay mindful and make informed choices. Whether you plan to drink alcohol or simply enjoy the holiday weekend, the Illinois Liquor Control Commission encourages everyone to celebrate responsibly,” ILCC Executive Director Lisa Gardner said in a news release.
