PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Hillsboro Hops said goodbye to their home stadium Sunday afternoon, playing their final game before moving to a new ballpark next season.

The Hops have played at the Hillsboro Ballpark, formerly

Ron Tonkin Field, since their inaugural season in 2013. But the current stadium doesn’t meet MiLB’s new facility standards.

The Hops’ 613th and final game played at the Hillsboro Ballpark was against the Vancouver Canadians.

Once completed, the new stadium will be able to hold 6,000 for baseball games and 7,000 for other events such as concerts and community gatherings. It will be a 229,000-square-foot facility and will include a kids’ play zone and beer garden.

It will also feature a 32-foot cantilevered canopy for protection from rain and sun.

Crews broke ground on the new $120 million stadium in late 2024, with construction expected to wrap up by December 2025.

The new ballpark will open on April 7, 2026 with the Hops playing against the Spokane Indians.

The Hops have already begun encouraging fans to secure spots in the new ballpark ahead of its opening. Those interested can submit waitlist deposits for the 2026 season.
