CHARLOTTE (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — It’s bittersweet news for Panthers fans as they announced they’re signing training camp fan favorite Hunter Renfrow, but due to the news that Jalen Coker has been placed on the injured reserve.

Renfrow missed the entire 2024 season dealing with an autoimmune disease and joined the Panthers this offseason. Fans were torn at the news that the team was releasing him, but now he’s back with a chance to prove himself.

As for Coker, he heads to the IR with a quad injury he suffered in practice on Thursday. If he starts the season on IR, he will miss at least the first four games.

Coker is another fan favorite in Carolina. As an undrafted free agent in 2024, Coker played in 11 games, totaling 478 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Renfrow will replace Coker on Carolina’s active roster alongside Dalevon Campbell, Jimmy Horn Jr., Xavier Legette, Tetairoa McMillan, David Moore and Brycen Tremayne.
