Free breast exams offered to women in the Big Country

BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Women in the Big Country can sign up for a free breast exam in 24 counties from Scurry to Lampasas.

The screenings are funded by a legislative grant awarded to the Laura W. Bush Institute and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and are conducted by Bexa Equity Alliance.

The 15-minute exam uses a handheld device and doesn’t require standing or discomfort. The exam is a quick screening that checks for unusual lumps or changes in breast tissue.
