On Wednesday, Trump issued a proclamation calling for flags to be lowered as a mark of respect for those affected by the mass shooting at a Catholic church in Minneapolis that left two dead and 17 injured.
In the proclamation, Trump ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on all state and federal buildings through sunset on Sunday, Aug. 31.
“This is a horrific, senseless shooting. Our prayers are with the students and teachers impacted, and with the state of Minnesota. There is no place for violence in America, least of all in our kids’ schools,” Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement about the mass shooting on Wednesday.
Trump called a shooting a “senseless act of violence” in his proclamation.
FBI Director Kash Patel said on X that the shooting is being investigated as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime targeting Catholics.
