Suburban rescue seeking help after van crashes on mission to save puppies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The suburban organization Wright-Way Rescue is seeking help after their transport van was involved in a crash transporting puppies back to the area.

Wright-Way Rescue’s Wednesday began just like another other day. They planned out a rescue mission to save four litters of puppies in Mississippi and Arkansas.

The team rescued three litters of puppies and headed to their final stop in Blytheville, Arkansas.

A semi-truck crashed in front of their transport van on the way and the driver had to detour through Memphis.

In heavy traffic, their transport vehicle was involved in a collision.

All of the puppies were not injured and both drivers did not suffer serious injuries, according to the organization.

They were able to press on to their final stop in Blytheville after a second van was dispatched to the scene from Wright Way.

In Blytheville, a rescuer had been waiting with two tiny Jack Russell Terrier mix puppies—surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for them.

While all of the dogs are safe, they van is a loss.

“While we do carry insurance, the payout will not come close to covering the cost of replacing this essential vehicle. The van that was lost already had high mileage, and what insurance provides will fall far short of what is needed for another reliable transport van,” the organization said.

Through Sept. 28, Wright-Way is offering $75 adoptions on medium and large breed puppies and dogs six months and over.

Wright Way features two local adoption centers — one at its Morton Grove headquarters and one at Lambs Farm in Libertyville.
