Shreveport man arrested on weapons and narcotics charges
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) —The Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Abatement Team arrested a man early Thursday, August 28, 2025, morning on weapons and narcotics charges.
Around 6 a.m., officers executed an arrest warrant in the 2700 block of Waggner Street, taking 21-year-old Jatravious Collins into custody. Collins is charged with illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance and possession of Schedule II narcotics.
During the arrest, officers recovered a 9mm handgun and suspected methamphetamine. Two other individuals were also taken into custody on outstanding city marshal warrants.
The Shreveport Police Department says it remains focused on removing illegal firearms from city streets. Residents with information regarding illegal firearms or narcotics activity are urged to contact the department at (318) 673-7300.
