SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The Shreveport Police have arrested a man who allegedly fired a gun at an officer.
The incident happened on Wednesday, August 27, at approximately 9:50 p.m. Officers were called to an apartment complex located in the 100 block of Southfield Road. The caller, identified as Glenn Garrett, reported that someone had entered his apartment.
According to the SPD, officers were conducting a search in the area when one of the officers shone a flashlight on a man standing on the sidewalk. At that moment, the individual later identified as Garrett, pointed a firearm and fired one shot.
No one was injured during the incident, but investigators found no evidence to suggest that Garrett’s apartment had been broken into. He told the officers that he armed himself and waited outside. Apparently startled, Garrett fired his weapon when he saw someone around the corner.
It was discovered that Garrett had an outstanding warrant with the city for property damage. Officers arrested him for aggravated assault on a police officer.
