Saints’ defensive tackle Bryan Bresee will be paying close attention to LSU and Clemson’s week one matchup

NEW ORLEANS — Bryan Bresee’s first full year at Clemson came after the Tigers’ loss to LSU in the 2019 national championship, but he did get to watch the game as an early enrollee.

“I just got to Clemson probably a few days beforehand. So me and a couple of other guys who were early enrollees, we went out and they had a big showing, like on the streets downtown with the big screens up. So we went out and watched it there,” said Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee.

The opportunity to play on the biggest stages in college football attracted Bresse to a program like Clemson, but Dabo Swinney and the coaching staff were the reason why he put pen to paper.

In 17 years as Clemson head coach, Swinney has won nine ACC titles and two national championships.

“He’s built something very special at Clemson. I think he has withheld a standard there that he just hasn’t wavered off of ever. What he expects is what he expects, and it doesn’t change. So, I think that and just the buy-in that he gets from all the guys that he has come in. You know, everyone believes in him, trusts him, and gives it all for him,” said Bresee.

Swinney has led Clemson to 180 wins, 93 at Memorial Stadium, which is the site of Saturday’s top ten showdown between LSU and Clemson.

Bresee says the gameday environment at South Carolina’s version of “Death Valley” gives the home team extra juice.

“I heard we were the first ones to claim it, but I just think it’s special because of the fans that are in Clemson. It’s a great fan base, people who love Clemson, love everything about it, and fully support our football team. They show out in flying colors. So it’ll be a crazy game for sure,” said Bresee.

Bryan Bresee needs Clemson to win.

He currently shares the Saints’ defensive line with former LSU standout Davon Godchaux, and the two have a friendly wager on the game.

“Yeah he’s going to be in some Clemson gear next week after we win. We’ll have some gear maybe getting passed around a little bit next week. We’ll see. We’ll see,” added Bresee.

LSU and Clemson will meet Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. on WGNO and ABC affiliates.
