LAFAYETTE, La. (
KLFY) — Fans attending the first
Louisiana Ragin Cajuns football game at the remodeled
Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium tomorrow night will see something new other than just the main stand.
The UL Lafayette Police Department has announced that each of the main entry gates will be outfitted with new weapons detection systems. The systems are designed for high-volume screening of fans, including their bags, without requiring them to divest items or having every bag checked, thus minimizing delays, officials said.
The system is designed to detect a wide range of metal objects, including weapons like knives and firearms, as well as improvised explosive devices.
UL Police ask fans to familiarize themselves with the stadium’s clear bag policy, restricted items and no re-entry policy by following the link here to further assist in a speedy entry.
Also, all stadium gates will remain closed on game day until 90 minutes prior to kickoff, allowing an extra 30 minutes for fans to enter the stadium and find their seats.
The Cajuns will take on Rice with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday.
