Man killed in motorcycle crash at Lawrence roundabout

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is dead after crashing his motorcycle in a Lawrence roundabout Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a 50-year-old crashed into the center of a roundabout at Lake Pointe Drive and Clinton Parkway around 4:10 p.m. Thursday. Google Street View shows that there are concrete pavers and bushes in the center of the roundabout.

Police said he was taken to a hospital in Topeka, where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police. They did not identify the man.

The Lawrence Police Accident Investigations Unit is investigating the crash. Police said this is the second fatal motorcycle crash at that intersection this summer.
