“We will be reopening the I-20 eastbound off-ramp to Barksdale Blvd., so if you’re heading eastbound on I-20 and want to exit at Barksdale Blvd., you’ll be able to do so Thursday, August 28th,” says Buchanan.
With the project approaching its two-year anniversary, construction has been a burden on those who rely on the Barksdale Blvd. exit.
“Having to reroute is something that impacts everyone’s daily lives. It adds stress. It adds gas. You have to adjust to everything when you have a major construction project like this one,” says Buchanan.
Immediately following the reopening of Barksdale, another exit will be closing for reconstruction.
“We’ve got a final ramp that needs to be rebuilt, and so once we open that eastbound off-ramp to Barksdale, we’ll be closing the eastbound off-ramp to Benton Road,” says Buchanan.
The project is expected to be finished at the end of the year or in early 2026.
