FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An elementary school in Fresno was placed on lockdown on Thursday afternoon following a report of a suspect on campus, according to the Fresno Police Department.

Officers say Wilson Elementary School, at Ashlan Avenue and Hughes Avenue, was placed on lockdown at around 1:50 p.m. following a report of someone on campus believed to be carrying a firearm.

Two parents who spoke to YourCentralValley.com described a student on campus with a firearm, which prompted the response from Fresno Police. Responding officers reported finding a sixth-grade student pointing what appeared to be a gun at others on campus; the gun was later found to be a replica.
