Large police presence reported in Montara neighborhood, secure campus ends at nearby schools
A 27 News reporter in the area said there is a police scene in the 6700 block of Briarmeade Lane. Multiple law enforcement vehicles and personnel are in the neighborhood.
Abigail Christian with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office told 27 News that law enforcement is in the area on reports of a disturbance. She said people should avoid the area for the time being.
Jessica Roberts, a spokeswoman for the Auburn-Washburn School District USD 437, shared a message with 27 News sent out to families of children in the district on Aug. 27. Pauline Central Primary School, Washburn Rural Middle School, Washburn Rural High School, Tallgrass Student Learning Center and Pauline South Intermediate entered “Secure Campus” due to nearby activity in the area that is unrelated to the school.
“Secure Campus has been lifted at Pauline Central and Pauline South. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we worked to ensure student and staff safety.”
