Lanes blocked on I-280 southbound due to hazmat spill near Los Altos
(KRON) — A hazardous materials spill Thursday afternoon caused all lanes to be blocked on southbound I-280 near Los Altos, the Santa Clara County Fire Department announced. The spill happened around 12:52 p.m. near Magdalena Avenue where a truck hit the median divide.

The material was identified as bleach, SCCFD said. Two lanes of traffic on the northbound lanes have been shut down.

As of 3:30 p.m., lane 4 of southbound I-280 has reopened. California Highway Patrol posted photos of the scene.

Officials said there is no threat to the public. No injuries were reported, and all occupants of the involved vehicles were able to self-extricate.

According to CHP, there is no estimated time of reopening.
