Boil water advisory issued for City of Rice

Officials in Rice, Minnesota, have issued a citywide boil water advisory due to a loss of water pressure.

A water main break on Thursday resulted in a dip in water pressure, increasing the risk of exposure to bacteria, viruses and parasites, according to a notice on the city’s website. Now, city staff are working to isolate and repair the main break.

The issue was expected to be resolved “within 36 hours,” though it was not immediately clear what time the water main break occurred.

Rice residents are asked to use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and making ice until given the all clear.

For more information on safe drinking water protocols, refer to this guide from the Minnesota Department of Health’s website.
