Abilene woman accused of using couples vehicle to steal items from home, including dog
Candee Fast was booked into the Taylor County Jail earlier this week for Burglary of a Habitation in connection to the incident, which was reported in April 2023.
Court documents state an Abilene couple was on vacation when they received a text from their daughter that their back door was open, their home was ransacked, and their dog and vehicle were missing.
When they arrived home, the documents state they found signs that a suspect had entered through an unlocked bathroom window, and when they checked their surveillance footage, they saw this suspect make several trips between their home and their car, loading items inside the car.
Stolen items include an electronic piano, tools, a purse, night vision equipment, computer equipment, a thermal imaging scope, and the family dog, according to the documents.
The suspect fled the scene of the burglary in the stolen vehicle, and the documents state Fast was later caught driving the car while she was still in possession of the stolen items, including credit and debit cards in the victims’ names.
Fast now remains held in the Taylor County Jail on bonds totaling more than $50,000.
