$10,000 Reward: FBI searching for alleged dangerous fugitive with Louisiana ties

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Matthew LaDaniel Johnson.

Matthew LaDaniel Johnson is wanted for his alleged involvement in the shooting of four men at a Denver, Colorado bar. 

On December 30, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the Viking Bar, where they found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a hospital, where two did not survive. 

The shooter was identified as Matthew Ledaniel Johnson.

He and his girlfriend were on the patio at the Viking Bar when an argument occurred between Johnson’s girlfriend and one of the victims. 

During the argument, one of the victims punched Johnson, knocking him to the ground.  When Johnson got up, he allegedly pulled out a handgun and started shooting at the victims on the patio.  

On January 1, 2024, the State of Colorado issued a warrant for Johnson’s arrest after he was charged with Murder in the First Degree – Extreme Indifference (2 Counts) and Criminal Attempt Murder in the First Degree – Extreme Indifference (2 Counts) in the Denver County Courts.

August 12, 2025, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Johnson in the United States District Court, District of Colorado, Denver, Colorado, after he was charged with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution.

Johson is known by many names; Matthew Johnson, Matthew L. Johnson, Matthew Ledaniel Johnson, Matthew Lathaniel Johnson, Matthew Quincy Johnson, Matthew Ladani Johnson, Matthew Martinez

He was previously employed by a public library.

Johnson has ties to Sacramento, California; Chicago, Illinois; Louisiana; and Colorado.
