Where Y’at this Weekend: Morgan City, Jefferson Performing Arts Center, City Park, Lakeview Harbor

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Tomorrow we remember a momentous day in New Orleans’ history. But this weekend is also a time to celebrate our rebirth, and enjoy the cultural heritage that we have fought so hard to keep that makes New Orleans so special. Here are Where Y’at’s picks!:
  • First, looking to get out town for Labor Day? Then enjoy the 90th anniversary of the Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival in Morgan City this Thursday, Aug. 28 to Monday, Sept. 1. The free festival celebrates two important industries in Southeast Louisiana; expect to find live music and a children’s village, plus parades, a 5K walk/run, much more.
  • Theater lovers: remember Katrina by seeing the world premiere of Our City of Saints at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center from Friday, Aug. 29 to Sunday, Aug. 31. The musical focuses on how a city, a family, and even a football team can overcome hardships and celebrate life. With music and lyrics by Paul Soniat, Our City of Saints is a heart-touching experience.
  • Next, head out to City Park this Saturday, Aug. 30 to enjoy the Arts Market New Orleans. Now taking place near Café Du Monde’s City Park location, shop around and view the works of over 30 local art vendors. In addition to food and drinks, the Arts Market features children’s activities and more.
  • Finally, cheer on the LSU Tigers on Saturday, Aug. 30 as they take on Clemson this Saturday evening while enjoying a delicious meal at Lakeview Harbor. With multiple TVs to catch all the action, Lakeview Harbor specializes in po-boys, burgers, and specialty cocktails like their famous Typhoon
