Southern California’s weather takes a tropical turn

The remnants of Tropical Storm Juliette are bringing cooler temperatures and a chance of rain to Southern California on Thursday, including the Los Angeles area.

Forecasters say the storm’s moisture is drifting across the region, increasing humidity and lowering temperatures by several degrees.

While much of the rain was staying south of San Diego Thursday morning, there’s a 20 to 30 percent chance of light showers in Los Angeles County, primarily in the southern and eastern areas. (Tap for live radar)

“Rainfall amounts, if any, will be on the light side,” the National Weather Service said it its daily bulletin.

The Weather Service said a southerly swell from Juliette will also increase the risk of rip currents at beaches in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Skies are expected to clear by Thursday evening, with sunshine returning Friday. Temps will rise again, reaching the 80s near the coast and 90s in the valleys.

The weather will stay dry and mostly sunny through Labor Day weekend with highs ranging from the 70s at the beaches to the 90s and low 100s inland, including the San Fernando Valley.
