ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Park District Police arrested Darryl Hendrix, 40, for allegedly pushing a woman off a ledge, causing her to break her back.

Officers were called to a gazebo at Beattie Park, located at 401 Main Street, for reports of battery. The victim said the situation started when the suspect approached and started yelling at her.

The woman told authorities she was pushed off a three-foot ledge, causing her back to hit the concrete.

A witness corroborated her story, court documents show.

Swedish American Hospital staff reported that the victim broke her back during the incident.

Hendrix was convicted of domestic violence in 2011.

He is now charged with domestic battery with prior convictions and aggravated domestic battery.

The suspect’s mugshot was not available at this time.
