Ribbon cutting set for new mural celebrating Flippin’s past

A new mural honoring Flippin’s early days and the residents who helped build the community will be unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday. The event is scheduled for noon to 1 at Diego’s Fresh Mex, located at 125 E. Main St.

Created by local artist Duane Hada of Rivertown Gallery, the mural spans several panels and features a scene from the city’s railroad era. The artwork includes a steam engine, the former Flippin train depot, horse-drawn wagons, and depictions of townspeople from the late 19th to early 20th century. Hada said the whole concept was to do something that celebrated the historical aspects of Flippin.

While visiting with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News, Hada describes the mural and the planning process.

Pat Henley of the Flippin Beautification Committee said when she saw Hada working on the mural she was so excited. Henley goes on to describe some of the history of the town and what coordination took place from the town’s point of view.
