Latest from London: Council member tenders resignation ahead of mayor's impeachment hearing
LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A London city council member has tendered their resignation nearly a week before the council will decide whether or not to impeach the mayor.

The acting city clerk released the agenda for the rescheduled special-called meeting on Thursday morning. The last item on the agenda is the acceptance of council member Stacy Benge’s resignation.

FOX 56 has requested a copy of Benge’s resignation letter and reached out for more information.

Notably, Benge was the only council member who voted against the motion to bring 14 charges against Mayor Randall Weddle, which set the September 5 impeachment hearing. It will take a unanimous vote to vacate the mayor’s seat.
