COAHOMA COUNTY, Miss. — A 19-year-old from Como, Mississippi was shot and killed over the weekend following an altercation tied to a drag racing event, according to the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they were called to Bruister Road on Saturday, Aug. 23, about a reported shooting. When they arrived, bystanders directed them to a nearby field at Prairie Place Road and Gibbons Road, where they found a disabled red vehicle and a gunshot victim.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Keyshawn Hunt, was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

Investigators say Hunt had been at a drag racing event in Tallahatchie County before an altercation broke out, leading to gunfire. As Hunt and others tried to flee the area, deputies say they came under crossfire at the intersection where Hunt was ultimately found.

Witnesses told deputies that the shooters may have been driving a black Chevrolet Malibu or Impala.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to call 662-624-2411. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
