Small San Jose plane crashes near Los Banos

(KRON) — A small private plane took off from an airport in San Jose before it crashed at 7 p.m. Tuesday near Interstate-5 in Los Banos, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.

One victim died inside the plane, MCSO said. Investigators did not find any other victims.

“There was one occupant inside the plane who was found deceased. They have not been identified at this time,” the sheriff’s office wrote. Los Banos is nearly 70 miles south-east of San Jose.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating what caused the deadly plane crash.
