UPDATE, 8:45 a.m.: The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said the bridge is now open to traffic.
DOTD said motorists should expect intermittent closures for repairs on the bridge’s guard rails damaged in the crash.
ORIGINAL STORY: ESTHERWOOD, La. (KLFY) — In what has become a common occurrence, the Estherwood Pontoon Bridge is closed after a crash involving an 18-wheeler.
The Estherwood Police Department posted on its Facebook page that the bridge is closed for repairs, along with several photos of the crash, shown below.
The closing comes just a month after the bridge was closed for over a month after a truck crash on June 9.
The bridge had also been closed for a day in March after a truck crash.
No estimated reopening date was released.
