Police: Driver went against oncoming traffic in now-fatal Centreville crash
CENTREVILLE, Va. (DC News Now) — Police said that one driver in a multi-car crash in Fairfax County on Monday died in the hospital.

The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said that investigators were still looking into the crash, which officers responded to just before 2:25 p.m.

Police believe that three cars were driving on Sully Park Drive in the southbound lane when another car, a Honda Pilot, started driving against oncoming traffic. The three cars swerved to try to avoid a crash, but the Honda hit them.

Police said that the driver of the Honda, 80-year-old Darrell Ewing of Clifton, was taken to the hospital. He had life-threatening injuries and later died in the hospital.

Two other drivers and passengers were taken to the hospital. They are expected to survive.

FCPD said that alcohol does not seem to be a factor, but detectives were still looking into whether or not speed was a factor in the crash.
