(BCN) — Firefighters increased containment of the Pickett Fire in Napa County to 25 percent as the blaze held at 6,803 acres, Cal Fire said early Wednesday morning.

The wildfire, which broke out Thursday afternoon near the 2300 block of Pickett Road north of Calistoga, continues to burn through steep, rugged terrain as crews conduct mop-up operations and tactical patrols along its perimeter, Cal Fire said in its latest update at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday.

Mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect for zones NPA-E107-B, NPA-E108-A, NPA-E114, NPA-E115, NPA-E122-B, POP-E001-B and POP-E002-C. Warnings are still in place for NPA-E107-A, NPA-E120, NPA-E121-B, NPA-E121-C and POP-E001-A, where residents are urged to be ready to leave quickly.

Road closures include Aetna Springs Road, while Pickett, James Creek and Rosedale roads are open only to residents.

Cal Fire said heavy fuels such as dead timber are driving the flames. Winds eased overnight but were expected to strengthen again on Wednesday.

The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation.
