Monday almanac: Fall-like weather sticks around

It was a chilly taste of Autumn Monday morning as temperatures bottomed out in the upper 40s in some locations.    

Monday High temperatures 

Despite logging about three quarters of the day’s possible sunshine, the official high temperature at O’Hare failed to reach 70-degrees for the first time since May 31 and also made this the coolest August 25^th in

Chicago since 1987, nearly 4 decades ago.

Brisk northwest winds peaked above 20 mph and added to the Fall-like feel Monday afternoon.  

Monday U.S. High Temperatures/Departures From Normal

As cool as it was in Chicago and across the Midwest and Great Lakes, it was even cooler across the southern Plains where highs were some 20-25 degrees below normal. 

Meantime, summer heat was prevalent across the Pacific Northwest where Seattle, Washington logged a 90-degree high temperature.

Bad day for allergy sufferers as all three major pollutants were reported as high by the folks at Loyola Medicine.
