MH woman wins another title at the Great Southern Stone Skipping Championships

A Mountain Home woman continued her dominance at the Great Southern Stone Skipping Championships this past weekend in Little Rock, winning her fourth title in the past five years. Ashlie Hueter’s only loss in that span came last year, when she finished second. Those are the only five years she has entered the contest.

Hueter says she has been skipping rocks since she was a little girl growing up in the small town of Jasper, Missouri, north of Joplin.

Hueter says her athletic background probably plays a role in her stone skipping success. Hueter, or Ashlie Dodson as she was known then before getting married, played third base for the University of Central Arkansas where she was named to the Gulf South Conference All-Conference team as a junior in 1996. Her senior year was interrupted by a serious injury when she was hit in the eye by a line drive. Hueter says she avoided surgery and does not have any lasting damage.
