According to police, officers were called to an apartment in the 7700 block of Venus Street around 10:58 p.m. Monday, August 9th, 2021, for a reported shooting.
There, they found Yashreanna Bell-Young dead from six gunshot wounds.
Police say they were able to identify Frazier as the suspect after he fled the scene in a white SUV belonging to Bell-Young’s sister.
The sister testified at trial that she had picked Frazier up from the home on the night of the shooting, according to Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley.
Frazier’s mother also testified that Bell-Young had sent her texts earlier in the evening, saying he had put a gun to her head.
Frazier was found guilty of first-degree murder on Wednesday, which is punishable by up to 60 years in prison. He is also eligible for an additional 25-year sentence since a gun was used in the crime.
He will return to court on September 18th.
