Mitchell obtained the record with a 3-pointer she made with 7:27 left in the first quarter of the Fever’s 95-75 win over the Seattle Storm Tuesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhose. Mitchell finished the contest with 21 points, and her season-long scoring total now sits 787.
Point guard Caitlin Clark previously held the franchise record for points in a single season. She scored 769 points in her rookie season with the Fever last year.
Clark has played 13 games this season. She’s been sidelined with injuries in 25 of the Fever’s games.
Mitchell broke the record Clark set in 40 games last year in 38 games this season. Mitchell could far surpass the record Clark set last year, as the WNBA increased the number of regular season games its teams play from 40 to 44 ahead of the 2025 season. That means Mitchell still has six more regular season games to play this year.
The WNBA is also set to expand to 18 teams in the coming years, which could lead to even more regular season games being added to teams’ schedules in the future. The potential increase will also allow players’ scoring totals to soar even higher, meaning the franchise record Mitchell set Tuesday night may be broken again in future seasons.
On Tuesday, center Aliyah Boston also became the fastest Fever player to reach 1,000 career rebounds. She currently sits at fourth on list of the Fever’s all-time leading rebounders with 1,003. Tamika Catchings has the most rebounds in Fever history with 3,316.
The Fever’s next game is Friday. Indiana will travel to Los Angeles for a matchup with the Sparks at 10 p.m.
