Fever fans react to Caitlin Clark’s Nike logo reveal

INDIANAPOLIS — Injured Fever star Caitlin Clark may not have played in Tuesday’s home game against the Seattle Storm, but everyone at Gainbridge Fieldhouse was saying her name, which is now tied to Nike as its newest signature athlete.

Paired with Nike’s famous swoosh and the tag line “Caitlin was here,” a new logo’s next in line for ubiquitous brand recognition.

“It’s iconic,” said Fever fan Lindsay Perrin. “I think it’s seamless, and a classic design.”

“It’s actually a pretty cool logo,” said Seattle Storm fan Mary Becklund. “It’s nice and clean, and it’s something you could recognize.”

Two interlocking Cs nod to Caitlin Clark, who Nike officials said worked closely with designers on her upcoming sportswear collection. Some logo pieces drop this fall, but signature shoes and apparel debut next year.

“I’m going to buy everything with that logo on it,” said Fever fan Louise Baker, who traveled from Oklahoma for Tuesday’s game. “I don’t care if it’s a dog food bowl with the Caitlin Clark logo, I’m getting it.”

According to Nike, between Clark’s initials in the logo hides a smaller “C” meant to represent how Clark’s game “was built from the inside out — a product of her passion for the sport, relentless drive and constant pursuit of perfection.”

“Look at Michael Jordan,” Becklund said. “He’s not even playing, and everybody’s still buying his product. I think her name is going to be a household name forever.”

Fans filled Morris Bicentennial Plaza ahead of the game, telling FOX59/CBS4 that, even though Clark and several other players have been out with injuries, there’s no shortage of excitement to be felt during these last couple weeks of the regular season.

“She’s just brought so much well-deserved attention to women’s sports, so it’s just nice to see that it’s paid off,” Perrin said.

“It’s a group that’s really together, really connected,” said Fever Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Amber Cox. “We’re still making that push for the playoffs, and we’re so grateful for this home court advantage.”

Not to mention, they’ve also now got the advantage of Nike’s newest signature athlete drawing even more attention to the Indiana Fever.

“It’s about time, it’s past time, it’s her time,” Baker added.

To celebrate the milestone, Nike’s team worked with Clark on “a custom, bespoke look,” incorporating her logo into her outfit for Tuesday’s game, according to a spokesperson.
