At approximately 3 p.m., officers conducted an enforcement stop on a white Jeep Wagoneer for following too closely. The stop happened on I-5 within Fresno County.
The officer noted several factors that led him to believe the driver and passenger were engaging in criminal activity. The driver of the Jeep declined officers to search the vehicle, so a CHP K-9 unit was requested to respond, and once on scene, probable cause to search the Jeep was established.
CHP said while they were searching the Jeep, an officer located approximately two kilograms of suspected fentanyl powder hidden within the vehicle.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
They are both facing charges of possession of narcotics for sales, transportation of narcotics for sale and transportation for sales across noncontiguous counties.
