JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police said a man was arrested after a crash near a Jackson gas station.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was driving recklessly just before 8:00 p.m. on August 26, 2025.

Martin said the driver was driving at a high rate of speed, and officers were unable to catch up to the vehicle. She said the driver ran a red light and struck a vehicle, before traveling into the grass embankment and striking a metal guard rail at the Texaco gas station on Beasley Road.

The driver was identified as Tyler Kendrell, 23. He was arrested at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital. Charges are pending against Kendrell, according to Martin.
