Police say Tranell Marquise Williams, 38, has been charged in his death of 52-year-old Reginald Carroll, who was shot and killed last week at a home on Burton Lane in Southaven, Mississippi.
Reggie Carroll had appeared on the Katt Williams Heaven on Earth Tour this year, according to his social media.
A friend of the victim said Carroll has been touring with Williams and has recently been in the Southaven area.
“He had moved down there with Katt while they was on tour. You know, they was on tour together to stay with him while they was on tour,” said Kemp Earl Mitchell, who says he’s known Carroll for years.
Beyond being known for providing laughs, loved ones say Carroll was also a father and a veteran.
Since his reported death six days ago, WREG has been pushing for answers — so have Carroll’s loved ones, in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.
“People are asking why?” Mitchell said. “They don’t understand, because the last time anyone talked to him, his spirit was different, he was laughing and talking. It’s one of those things you see a person and then you don’t see them the next day.”
Several people have told WREG the person police have charged with Reggie’s death, Tranell Williams, has at one point served as security for Katt.
Reggie’s friend believed everything was positive.
“There’s a type of people you be around that bring negative energy. We talked like a few days before his passing and there was no indication to me he was around no one like that,” Mitchell said.
He’s hoping Reggie’s family gets answers soon.
Tranell Williams does not have any bond information, he’s set to be in court later this week
