UPDATE: Police say no evidence of active shooter at University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — UPDATE: Fayetteville police say they do not see any evidence of an active shooter. They say they are still clearing buildings. The investigation is still active.

During a news conference, officials said that UAPD and FPD received calls of a reported active shooter at 12:30 p.m. They said no evidence of a shooting has been found, and therefore, no arrests have been made.

As of 2:10 p.m., no “all clear” message has been officially issued.

Fayetteville PD issued the following statement via Facebook:

“At approximately 12:30 PM this afternoon, the Fayetteville Police Department was called to assist the University of Arkansas Police Department at a report of an active shooter at David W Mullins Library on the University of Arkansas campus.

Multiple agencies responded. Since the original call, multiple calls at multiple locations around the university have come in. As of now, there are no confirmed gunshots, no confirmed injuries, no known suspects, and no arrests have been made.”

The Neighborhood Walmart on MLK Boulevard is on lockdown, according to the store.

Fayetteville Public Schools says it was under a shelter-in-place order, but that has since been lifted.

Farmington Public Schools says it is under a shelter-in-place order out of an abundance of caution. The district says there is no threat to it or its students. All students and staff are safe inside the buildings and normal activities are continuing within classrooms. Updates will be provided as needed.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A text alert was sent to students Monday afternoon saying there was an active shooter reported.

The alert advised everyone to avoid the area of Mullins Library.

University of Arkansas police cars can be seen outside the building. The Fayetteville Police Department confirmed they are actively assisting to clear the building.

University of Arkansas junior Brock Boddie said he was on the third floor of Mullins Library when he heard people yelling and moving around. Moments later, he received a university alert about a possible active shooter.

Boddie and other students were ushered into another building, where he saw armed officers outside the library with guns drawn, ordering students to evacuate. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said all information will be coming through UAPD and FPD.
