Regina Marie Mungin, 38, and Miquel Anione-Umeek Williams, 43, both of Rock Hill, S.C., were arrested and booked into the Mecklenburg County Detention Center, but have since been released on a written promise to appear.
According to court documents, Mungin was charged with felony bringing a gun on educational property and misdemeanor bringing a weapon on educational property. Court records say she had a Walter P22 handgun and a white box cutter in her possession.
Williams was charged with misdemeanor bringing a weapon on educational property that wasn’t a gun. According to court records, he had a pocket knife.
Following the incident, this message was shared with families from CMS:
“Good morning Palisades High School families, this is Principal Olejarczyk reaching out to inform you that two parents brought weapons on campus during student arrival. They were immediately confiscated. School leaders contacted law enforcement immediately to conduct a thorough investigation and an arrest was made.
Anyone attempting to bring a weapon to CMS facilities will be reported to law enforcement and may face criminal charges, which may result in an immediate arrest. CMS will not tolerate inappropriate behaviors from students, staff, or community members that put the safety of others at risk.
As always, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, therefore we encourage all students to report weapons or threats to a trusted adult. Reports can also be made anonymously through the Say Something App.
Thank you for continued support of Palisades High School.”
Williams’s next court date is set for September 25. Mungin’s next appearance in court has not yet been set.
The school was also the scene of a separate incident days ago, where a juvenile was charged after police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call. Queen City News has contacted CMPD for information on this case, and we still have not heard back.
