Two children safe after woman shot in face, man found dead in Mount Holly home: Police
MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A shooting in a Mount Holly neighborhood over the weekend left one man dead and a woman seriously injured, authorities confirmed.

Around 1:21 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, Mount Holly Police officers responded to a call about a shooting along Tomberlin Road. When officers arrived, they found a woman at a neighboring home with a gunshot wound to her face.

According to residents, she had come to their door for help after being shot next door.

Despite her serious injuries, Mount Holly Police said the woman was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

When officers entered the home where the shooting took place, they found a man dead inside. During a safety check of the house, police also found two young girls asleep in separate bedrooms. Thankfully, both children were unharmed.

Both girls have been safely released to family members, Mount Holly Police said.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community, and the investigation remains active. No other details have been released at this time.
