Shreveport issues boil advisory for southeast pressure zone

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A Voluntary Boil Advisory for customers in the Southeast Pressure Zone has been issued by the City of Shreveport Department of Water & Sewage.

The affected area includes customers south of East Bert Kouns, the area southeast of the Interstate 49 and 3132 interchange, and certain subdivisions along Linwood Avenue south of Bert Kouns.

To disinfect water, bring water to a rolling boil and maintain for one minute in a clean container. After cooling, the disinfected water can be poured back and forth between clean containers or shaken in a bottle to improve taste.

Disinfection is recommended for any water that will be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, food preparation, or rinsing food.

The advisory is necessary due to the booster station experiencing temporary pump faults that greatly reduced water pressure in the area.

The advisory will remain in effect until water samples are collected, analyzed, and confirmed safe. Once test results are satisfactory, the advisory will be rescinded.
