Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO Set Announced

LEGO has announced a new Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired set called LEGO Icons: Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship. It’s a huge black ship that’s aimed at the 18+ age bracket. It’s made up of 2,862 pieces and it comes with eight minifigures.

Officially designated as set #10365, Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship set will cost $379.99 and will be available on September 15. It’s not available for preorder, but you can see the listing at the LEGO Store.

LEGO Insiders who purchase Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship between September 12 – 18 will also receive Captain Jack Sparrow’s Compass as a Gift With Purchase, while supplies last.

Any set comprised of nearly 3,000 pieces will include plenty of nifty details, but this one looks particularly interesting. There are dials you can turn to deploy cannons on both the port and starboard sides of the ship. If you turn the ship’s wheel, you’ll operate the rudder, just like on a real ship.

You can open the deck to peek in on the captain’s quarters, which are furnished just like you’d expect. There’s a detachable rowboat and minifigure figurehead. And in perhaps the most impressive flourish, you can remove the bottom of the boat’s hull at the waterline to make it look like it’s floating on the sea. (If you don’t want to do that, it also has a buildable stand so you can display the ship in its full gloomy glory).

Here’s a rundown of all eight LEGO minifigures included with the set, which should be familiar to fans of the Pirates movies:

  • Captain Jack Sparrow
  • Will Turner
  • Elizabeth Swann
  • Hector Barbossa
  • Gibbs
  • Cotton
  • Anamaria
  • Marty

LEGO has been on a roll lately with great new LEGO sets for adults. The company recently announced a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory LEGO set that’s coming out September 18. That’s in addition to the many excellent LEGO sets released in August. And looking ahead even further, we’ve got a LEGO Game Boy set coming in October that I would love to have in my hands right now.
